Teaser
In Dosh Or Splosh, every question begins with a roll of the dice.
A green category die determines the subject. A white reward die shows how many points a correct answer earns. A black risk die shows how many points are lost for a wrong answer.
After seeing the roll, the player must decide whether to answer the question or pass and adjust the balance of the game by upgrading one of the dice instead — making future questions more lucrative for them or more dangerous for their opponent.
As the round progresses, the dice grow larger and the point swings become more dramatic. The trailing player must keep the upgrades moving, pushing both contestants toward a high-stakes finale to decide who wins the prize money — and who ends the game beneath the mud tank.
Rules
- Roll the dice. Each turn begins with three dice: a green category die (Trivial Pursuit categories), a white reward die showing the points for a correct answer, and a black risk die showing the penalty for a wrong answer.
- Dice upgrades increase the stakes. Reward and risk dice grow from D8 to D12 and finally to D20, making later questions far more valuable — and far more dangerous.
- Choose whether to answer or pass. After seeing the dice, the player may either answer the question or pass.
- If the player answers correctly. They gain the number of points shown on the white reward die.
- If the player answers incorrectly. They lose the number of points shown on the black risk die.
- If the player passes. No question is asked. Instead, they may upgrade either their own reward die or their opponent’s risk die.
- The trailing player upgrades a die. After each scoring exchange, the player who is behind on points must upgrade one die. They normally upgrade either their own reward die or their opponent’s risk die. If both of those dice have already reached D20, they must instead upgrade one of the remaining dice so the game continues moving toward the final round. This prevents either player from stalling the game once their preferred dice are maxed.
- The final round begins when all dice reach D20. Once both players’ reward and risk dice have reached D20, each contestant receives one final question.
- The highest score wins the dosh. The winner takes the prize money for the round. The losing contestant takes the splosh beneath the mud tank.
